Fenton Jurkowitz Law Group’s physician client was exonerated of criminal charges on November 21, 2017 by Judge Cormac Carney of the Central District of California, granting the government’s motion to dismiss all charges against the physician. Our firm represented the physician regarding potential civil ramifications of the criminal case (e.g. medical staff and medical board issues). The physician had been charged with numerous felonies after computer repair employees at Best Buy claimed to have found alleged contraband on one of his computers. The case drew national attention after attorneys uncovered that Best Buy had numerous paid government informants working at its computer repair facility in Kentucky. Judge Carney held a lengthy evidentiary hearing where the defense proved that the affidavit used to obtain a search warrant for the physician’s home contained numerous false statements and omissions. The government then dismissed the case in its entirety.
